Dan Barentine seamlessly transitioned from Hollywood’s backstage to the forefront of Wilmington’s real estate scene.
I've had the opportunity to work for some of Hollywood's Elite. The talented actors/actresses have different personalities that I am able to relate with in some way or another. My ability to communicate and get along with many different personality types from all different socio-economical backgrounds from C-Suite executives to 1st-time homebuyers is what sets me apart from other realtors. Taking the time to understand my celebrity clients' needs and wants helped me anticipate their requests and always be able to accommodate them positively. My success as a personal lifestyle facilitator for Hollywood's elite stems from first understanding the enormous task they are given in each opportunity they get as an actor. Then I can treat them with the utmost respect and admiration for their work and how they are as human beings at their core.
My background working directly with Hollywood’s A-listers and their executive teams has provided me with invaluable insight and understanding of the luxury lifestyle. I’m blessed to have been able to travel the world with my previous clients and live the luxury lifestyle firsthand hand from private aviation to exclusive events, to one-of-a-kind family vacations, and more. I’ve been a part of many of these moments personally. Having the opportunity to work alongside Actors/Actresses, Agents, Studio Executives, and CEOs of large corporations I’m better prepared and informed of the importance of meeting the expectations of these creatives and executives. I am well versed and experienced in the private travel industry these clients use to better accommodate their busy schedules and balance their business/personal lives. I understand the importance of their time and efficiency in which they make economic decisions, how they approach life, and what their expectations are of me and our relationship.
While some agents will say they are Luxury Real Estate Agents I say my direct experience with my past clients uniquely positions me to truly provide a genuine luxury service to my real estate clients just as I did my celebrity clientele before. I’m not just a Realtor helping clients buy or sell luxury real estate, I'm an experienced Lifestyle Facilitator operating as a Realtor providing a genuine luxury lifestyle to my clients. But you don’t have to be a movie star, celebrity, or a movie studio Executive to work with me, I treat all of my clients with the same respect and attention across the board.
I've been told my best asset is my calming and cheerful demeanor in all situations. I get along with everyone, even in tough and stressful situations. I approach my real estate career in the same way. I like to get to know my clients personally, which allows me to have open and genuine conversations about their expectations and desires regarding their real estate needs. I don’t underestimate the importance of how large a decision buying or selling a home is for my clients and use my skills learned from my movie business days the same way for my real estate clients. By getting to know my clients on a personal level I can curate the services I provide them in a way that helps alleviate some of the anxiety and uncertainty that comes with such a large decision and transaction.
While traveling the world with celebrities and Actors/Actresses has its place in my heart, who I am at my core is a Dad and a Husband and a son. My best job and one that I think is the coolest ever is being a Dad to my boy. I chose to change career paths after deciding to start a family so that I could be a present and attentive father to my son. Real Estate allows me the opportunity and time flexibility to be available for my family. I enjoy and embrace all the crazy sports and activity schedules that are enough to drive anyone crazy. I believe my background has prepared me to be able to pivot and adapt to ever-changing circumstances as they pertain to a growing athletic, highly energetic boy and all his adventures from Taekwondo, to baseball (fall and spring), football, basketball, soccer, and golf and the list grows each year. All of my previous professional accomplishments as flashy and fun as they seem pair in comparison to being a dad, which I say is by far my best accomplishment and one I take extremely seriously. My wife and I do our best to raise a respectful human and enjoy the journey of doing so but without her devotion to our family and her hard work, I wouldn't be the dad I can be to our son. As cliche as it sounds it helps to have a good team on the same page to raise a child and I’m blessed to have that in my wife who has compassion for others as a nurse and brings that compassion home to her family every day.
When I’m not out showing property or meeting new clients you’ll find me either on the golf course working on my game or on the boat island hopping and fishing. What makes Wilmington and Southeastern NC so special to me is the serenity of the backwaters and waterways full of aquatic wildlife and beautiful views all around as well as the many manicured and landscaped golf courses in the area that give me a sense of calm and relaxation. Even a bad day on the golf course barely breaking 100 is therapy for me. My wife asks me often when I’m out on the golf course all day what I talk about and I honestly just tell her “Not much”. Mostly it’s just a time to focus on one task or shot at a time, which is refreshing for me in such a fast-paced environment of real estate and life these days.
My love for golf stems from when I was a kid. My mother was a high school PE teacher and coach and she introduced me to all sports from a young age. I excelled in many different sports but was never a master of one more than another, but it wasn't until I was a young adult and my mother and I would get to play golf together and spend quality time that I started to enjoy the game.
