Allison & Brian Donovan
Home Sweet Carolina Beach.
Allison and Brian Donovan are riding the waves of success on two wheels!
Preparing a meal can be a meticulous process. Whether you are following a recipe, or you've grown comfortable enough to bring your own creations to the table, it takes prep work, skill and care, as well as an attention to detail. Real estate can be very similar. Knowing your way around a transaction is much like being comfortable in the kitchen. The time you take at the beginning to make sure everything is perfectly set up for your client's success makes all the difference. Knowing how things will time out, coordinating with numerous people to get to closing, and keeping clients in the loop is a lot like cooking an extensive meal. Just like the guests at our own table at home, we take pride in knowing that our clients truly appreciate everything that we've done for them. Family members have said “if you’re cooking, it will be good.” We want our clients to have the same confidence in our professional guidance.
Everyone has that core memory of the first time you took off the training wheels, got your balance, and left your driveway on a bike. It's a liberating moment of pride and pure joy. You got that little bit of momentum and had to keep going, and not just because you didn’t know how to stop without falling over. Sometimes when we haven't been on a ride in a while, all of those feelings of freedom and fun come whooshing back as we hop back on our bikes. Exploring the parks, neighborhoods, and other local spots on bikes is something we not only love to do at home, but everywhere we go. When we travel, we make it a point to rent bikes and explore new cities and towns the old-fashioned way. We've pedaled around the perimeter of Kennebunkport, Maine, been pushed by the wind over the Golden Gate Bridge, coasted down the well thought out bike paths of Portland, Oregon, and even dodged the spirited traffic of Mexico City to visit the home of Frida Kahlo...rewarding our efforts with churros of course. Still, nothing beats our daily bike rides with the familiar faces of our fellow neighbors, a wave from a happy tourist, and even that one guy on rollerblades…
Nurturing a house full of plants requires a level of care and attention that a lot of people want, but don’t always have. The time, effort, and attention that Allison gives to her plants to keep them happy and healthy is remarkable, and she treats each and every client with the same reverence and respect. Some plants like full sun, lots of water. Some do better with partial sun, and a couple drops of water here and there. Some clients like to hear from their agent with constant updates. Some are busy and know that everything is getting done. Getting to understand what a plant likes, what it needs to be happy and healthy is much the same with making a strong connection with a client. Allison is naturally likable and trustworthy, because she knows what it takes to provide thorough consideration to her people…and her plants.
Brian’s favorite Christmas gifts of all time wasn’t his He-Man figure back in 1985. It wasn’t even his first Huffy bike, given to him the same year. It was his electric skateboard, gifted to him by his wife Allison. He has been happily shredding the streets and trails of Carolina Beach ever since. He has even successfully convinced Allison on numerous occasions that “the board will be faster” when it comes time to head to the Nest office, take photos of a local listing, or just to pick up some take-out.
We are both very down to earth and get along with inexperienced first-time homebuyers, discerning retirees, and seasoned investors alike. Whether a client needs a hand to hold, a shoulder to cry on, or a laugh to pick them up, the Donovans are always there for them. It could be as small as a sympathy card, delivering a Christmas tree, or just listening…our minds are focused on the transaction, and our hearts are always in the right place.
We make solid connections with our clients, but also with the agents we work with on the other side of the table. It’s our goal to make the colleagues we interact with just as eager to work with us in the future as our clients are. We’re always working to find a healthy work/life balance, but we know that time is of the essence in real estate and acknowledge the importance of timely communication and follow through. Our clients are always front and center.
