From Shag to Sold!
From Shag to Sold Mary Kaye Hester has all the right moves down on the boardwalk, especially when it comes to real estate.
The Carolina Beach Murals are one of my Very Favorite Things! The color and history depicted by the various artists is so interesting and vibrant. And what a great way for visitors to explore the island! Just a brilliant project.
I love the Carolina Beach Boardwalk, and the rides bring out the kid in me! The Sky Wheel, our local version of a Ferris Wheel, is a great way to get a bird’s eye view of everything going on. From the top, you can see the Carolina Beach boat basin, and clear down to Wrightsville Beach. What a lot of fun! I haven’t ridden it at night yet, but I will one of these days.
My husband Deryl and I enjoy taking overnight boat trips on our Back Cove express cruiser “Merry K”, and running around Carolina Beach and the Cape Fear River in our 1973 13-foot Boston Whaler “Li’l Sweet”. We love all the live music venues on Pleasure Island, especially Sea Witch, Lazy Pirate and Island Beverage, and Greenfield Lake Amphitheater in Wilmington.
Before becoming a full-time Realtor, my jobs included Restaurant Manager, TV Producer, Travel Agent and Scuba Instructor! I’ve also been in retail sales, public relations and worked at Carowinds as a kid. All of my previous endeavors taught me skills that have proved applicable to my real estate career. Take Scuba Instructor, for example, where I used to teach people to navigate a strange new world, not unlike helping buyers and sellers find their way through an unfamiliar process! The number one rule of scuba diving, “never hold your breath”, is a good one for real estate too (for both me and my clients)! My grandmother used to ask me “Is there anything you haven’t done?” I’ve never been a brain surgeon. No one’s ever paid me to sing (or paid me to stop singing)! But I recently resumed tap dancing lessons, so we’ll see where that goes.
